The game of Bat and Trap is an ancient relative of Cricket, still popular in Kent and an interesting game for those looking for something new to try. The same equipment could also be used for playing another traditional game, "Knur and Spell", that will go down well at village fetes or local fairs. This is a solid, robust version of this great game, made to withstand the rigours of league use. Not only is our trap practical, it is also a beautifully made wooden item. Both the trap and the bat are hand-made by an English craftsman in Ash. Occasionally, you will see inferior Traps for sale locally or on the Internet. Our Bat is nominally 5.5 inches wide and conforms to all known Bat and Trap league requirements, as does our Trap. The balls are hard rubber lacrosse balls which are the best balls for Bat and Trap that we know of. It is a common problem with traps that the wicket often falls over when the bat strikes the trap see-saw. Our trap is designed to minimize this issue by putting a mild-strength magnet on the underside of the wicket. It doesn't affect play when the wicket is hit by a ball but minor vibrations of the trap are less likely to cause the wicket to fall when it shouldn't.
